Target Start Date:
11/24/25
Work Location/Structure:
Bay Area
About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Automotive Manufacturing, is looking for a skilled
Senior Manufacturing Vision Engineer
to join their team for a 6 month engagement. This project involves designing and scaling advanced inspection and control systems for next-generation battery products, working on automation processes that directly improve battery performance, quality, and cost. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:
Guiding cross-functional selection of optimal measurement or detection strategy and providing vision interface Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to product designers.
Collaborating with Manufacturing Design, Controls, Quality and Equipment teams to define optimal inspection strategies, DFM and PFMEA feedback.
Developing and deploying 2D/3D vision and measurement systems from proof-of-concept to deployment on high-volume battery manufacturing lines.
Leading proof-of-concept and prototype validation for new vision technologies (Keyence, Cognex, Halcon, OpenCV, etc.).
Driving process optimization through data analysis, repeatability testing, and equipment validation.
Establishing standard methods, libraries, and best practices for machine vision applications across factories.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in automation, machine vision, or metrology (manufacturing environment preferred).
Deep expertise in developing and validating 2D/3D vision applications (Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV, etc.), and demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of high-volume 2D and 3D machine vision (Keyence, Cognex, Halcon, other) – application design, programming, validation, and troubleshooting. This isn\'t a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
Experience with one or more additional measurement and inspection technologies: (optical sensors, diodes, profilometry, laser measurement, optical scanning, optical metrology, LVDT, CMM, thermal imaging, ultrasonic measurement, X-ray, other), and programming experience with one of more common languages (Python, OpenCV, C++, other). Experience with data analysis, image processing, or industrial communication protocols is a plus.
Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent experience.
