Centre College invites nominations and applications for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs (provost). The College seeks a collaborative leader with a record of accomplishment demonstrating visionary leadership, strategic planning, and an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts. Prospective candidates should demonstrate dedication to academic rigor, inclusion, and the holistic development of students. Reporting to the president, the provost oversees the Academic Affairs division including the curriculum, faculty governance and personnel matters, and the academic resources and offices of the College. Centre College is a small, independent, and selective educational community dedicated to the liberal arts as a means to develop the intellectual, personal, and moral potential of its students. Centre nurtures in its students the ability to think logically and critically, to work creatively, to analyze and compare values, and to write and speak with clarity and grace. It acquaints students with the range of accomplishments of the human mind and spirit in a variety of arts and theoretical disciplines, and it also enables students to fulfill significant responsibilities in society. In short, Centre’s highest priority is to prepare its students for lives of learning, leadership, and service. The provost serves as the senior academic leader of the College, responsible for the integrity, excellence, and innovation of all academic programs and initiatives. The provost is a key member of the president’s cabinet and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, students, and trustees to advance the College’s mission as a premier liberal arts institution. This role requires visionary leadership, strategic planning, and an unwavering commitment to academic rigor, inclusion, and the holistic development of students. The ideal candidate for the role of provost and vice president for academic affairs will possess a record of progressive leadership experience in higher education. They will have a proven ability to lead within a shared governance environment and strong knowledge of liberal arts values, academic operations, and strategic planning. They will demonstrate a commitment to creating and nurturing inclusion and belonging for all in an academic setting. An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree and a record of distinguished scholarship and teaching, requisite for an appointment as a tenured full professor, are required.
