Dispatcher - Amarillo ISD | First Student

$21.00 per hour Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM-11:00 AM and 2:00 PM-6:00 PM (Saturdays on rotation with other dispatchers and trip coordinators) About the Role At First Student, Dispatchers play a critical role in ensuring safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service. The Dispatcher coordinates and dispatches all buses, monitors on-time performance of routes, and supports drivers and monitors on the front line. Key Responsibilities Oversee bus routes and scheduling
Provide guidance and coaching to drivers and monitors as needed
Manage high-volume phone and radio communications
Document scheduling issues or driver complaints and report to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
Serve as primary communication liaison with the school district
Handle charter reservations, billing, and driver payroll as required
Provide solutions for drop-off and pick-up challenges
Assist with daily operations and special projects
Drive bus routes when necessary
Perform back-up driver duties or clerical tasks as required
Qualifications and Experience 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred (dispatching, transportation, or terminal operations)
High school diploma or equivalent required
Basic knowledge of radio dispatch systems
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
Computer literacy required
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred; training provided if needed
Must pass DOT drug testing and physical examination
