We are looking for an outstanding

Cost Estimator V

located in Los Angeles to work with our client, Los Angeles World Airports who has experience in aviation facilities and rail construction, particularly commercial airport terminal work. Experience as an estimator working for a General Engineering Contractor on large civil works construction projects (greater than $500 million and over three-years in duration), with 20+ years of general estimating experience and knowledge of Progressive Design Build/CMAR delivery methods are key qualifiers. The

will participate as integral member of the LAX Terminal 5 Renovation and Reconstruction project.

This position requires certification for cost estimating, including as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar. This is a full-time position with on-site work required Monday-Friday. Hourly rates offered range from $90-$105/hr depending on experience.

Daily Duties

Review the proposal and assist with the determination of merit

Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for various scopes of work

Direct and manage other estimators/estimating teams as needed; Train subordinate estimating personnel as needed

Review construction and design cost proposals and change order requests - assist with the determination of merit

Review the labor rates and markups to ensure conformance to the contract specififications

Review the quantities and labor productivity to ensure fair and reasonable representation of scope

Review the material pricing and validate against R.S. Means for other pricing references

Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes

Establish basis of the owner's acceptance or rejection of proposals and develop records of negotiation

Reconcile contractor, internal and third-party estimates

Proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and why

Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates

Provide coordination and liaison with project management personnel and other estimating resources throughout the estimate development

Provide accuracy, reliability and completeness in all work products

Effective oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

20+ years of cost estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects

Certifications required, may include PMP, PE, and/or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certification. Required to have certified estimating professional credentials, such as a Certified Professional Estimator

Previous experience with public airport projects is a must; experience within a commercial airport terminal or light rail system are highly desirable

Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations

Previous experience with Terminal renovations

Demonstrated proficiency estimating formats, including Uniformat II

Proficient with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, Lee Saylor, Trade Services, Equipment Watch, Richardsons, etc.

Proficient with large-scale estimating software

Experience with On-screen Take-off is highly desirable

Microsoft Office Suite

Demonstrated experience with complex estimating reconciliations and change order negotiations

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.

Master's degree strongly.
