Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years teaching at high school, technical school or in an adult learning environment or related area

A bachelor’s degree in education, communication, or related field

Position Summary This position is a critical position that will provide workplace safety, operational, computer related and equipment training to 120+ employees in the Grounds Department. This incumbent will prepare training documents and lesson plans related to operational, workplace safety issues, equipment maintenance/preventative maintenance issues, and other related safety topics. This incumbent will log training documentation for all employees and conduct refresher courses as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Knowledge of and the ability to use training methodology, time management skills, and organizational skills.

Ability to demonstrate, present, and teach effectively in front of groups.

Ability to operate audio visual equipment.

Ability to develop teaching material utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (including Power Point, Word, Excel, and Translator), Adobe Photoshop, etc.

Knowledge of landscape and hardscape maintenance and operations.

Physical Demands

Lift up to 40 lbs.

Sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, and climb stairs during a normal workday.

Read/communicate effectively.

Duties/Responsibilities Conduct training classes as part of the Grounds Academy, individualized training curriculum, and/or refresher training for probationary and existing staff. Facilitate ELDT training program and new employee orientation.

Percentage of time: 30

Duties/Responsibilities Prepare training documents/master lesson plans related to operational, workplace safety issues, equipment maintenance/preventative maintenance issues, and other related safety topics. Use of visual equipment and other instructional media for classroom exercises. Use of PEP.

Duties/Responsibilities Data entry of training records in Word documents/spreadsheets and electronic systems.

Percentage of time: 20

Duties/Responsibilities Prepare monthly/annual training reports. Coordinate and make changes to training curriculum. Prepare/document training records of personnel.
