— Position Profile College The Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing (AEPCEC) is the second largest of ten Georgia Southern University colleges. The College supports student success, lifelong learning, and regional economic development by promoting faculty scholarship and teaching excellence, experiential learning, and partnerships with regional stakeholders. It values collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, openness, and sustainability, preparing the next generation for success. AEPCEC offers degrees for approximately 4,000 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The College comprises six academic departments, ten undergraduate degrees, and six master’s programs. Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer and spokesperson for the AEPCEC. The Dean will lead the College in articulating and implementing a new strategic plan to refine identity and vision and strengthen external partnerships to advance academic excellence, nourish community partnerships, promote research, and support economic development. The Dean will advocate for the College, its faculty, and its students, and work to strengthen interdisciplinary efforts within the University and with community partners in Georgia. The Dean will promote the College’s academic reputation with local, regional, national, and global audiences. The Dean will be a dynamic, collegial, and collaborative leader prepared to enhance the College’s capabilities and impact within the region. Given rapid growth, the Dean will help position the College and University to contribute to the future growth of Southeast Georgia and Savannah and to support the mission of preparing students to be productive citizens in a complex society. – Lead efforts to create a bold vision for the future of the AEPCEC, leveraging teaching, research, and outreach strengths, and engaging stakeholders to balance commitments to teaching quality, scholarly excellence, career readiness, and community service. Securing New Resources
– Lead efforts to secure financial support in a competitive higher education environment, creating new revenue streams related to research, offerings, partnerships, economic development, and philanthropy. Supporting Student Success
– Ensure strategies support student educational, career, and life goals, focusing on retention, graduation, and enhanced academic services and resources; prioritize undergraduate and graduate student experiences in new programs. Enhancing Interdisciplinary Research and Partnerships
– Champion interdisciplinary collaboration, facilitate communication across units, and catalyze new research and partnerships to raise the College’s profile and impact. Supporting Faculty Recruitment and Development
– Develop and strengthen strategies for faculty recruitment, development, and retention; promote a transparent, collaborative leadership style to foster stability and scholarly excellence. Supporting the Professional Development of Staff
– Work with staff to promote mentorship, professional development, and resource investment to support staff growth and engagement. Community Engagement
– Build and expand relationships with regional business and community leaders to create applied learning opportunities, internships, and pathways to employment; strengthen bonds that support student success and economic impact. Qualities and Characteristics

The candidate must possess an earned doctorate in a related field from an accredited institution and an outstanding record of scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment as a Full Professor with tenure in one of the College’s departments. The candidate should also demonstrate strong professional ethics and successful administrative experience.
