Responsibilities

Assist the Director with the overall management of Harpur Academic Advising, including policy implementation, operational planning, advising training, and staff professional development.

Lead office-wide technology initiatives and communications, including enhancements to advising tools, degree planning platforms, degree audit systems and transfer evaluation processes.

Provide oversight and support for general academic advising and specialized advising areas, including pre-law advising, non-matriculated student advising and the degree completion/individualized major program.

Provide leadership for our expanding departmental advising and support initiatives that strengthen our dual advising model and faculty-advisor collaboration.

Oversee the new student advising and registration process, ensuring smooth transitions for incoming Harpur College undergraduate students.

Monitor, analyze, and prepare daily and annual reports on advising outcomes, registration trends, and student success metrics.

Lead technology initiatives within the advising office, including updates to advising tools, degree planning, degree audit systems, and transfer evaluation processes.

Supervise a team of academic advisors and professional staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluation.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that emphasizes professional growth and student-centered service.

Work closely with faculty and campus partners to strengthen academic advising services across Harpur College.

Represent the advising office at campus meetings, committees, and events as needed.

Requirements

Master's Degree (or higher).

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in academic advising or a related area within higher education.

Minimum of 3 years of supervising experience with professional staff, including staff development and performance management.

Demonstrated experience with establishing strategies for student success.

Demonstrated experience with advising systems, degree audits, and student information systems.

Understanding of liberal arts curricula, transfer credit processes, and New York State Financial Aid degree applicability rules.

Preferred

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in academic advising.

Experience in data analysis, assessment and program evaluation, and reporting within an advising context.

Proven ability to lead student success initiatives and implement new technologies in advising services.
