Job Summary Odyssey Re is seeking an experienced treaty contract analyst to provide expert feedback and document management of contracts to treaty underwriters in our U.S. Property, Casualty, Surety and A&H treaty units; with an advisory role to Canadian underwriters. This individual will report to a Contracts Department manager and interact with a diverse group of internal and external personnel including U.S. and Canadian treaty underwriters, Legal, Claims and reinsurance brokers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze U.S. treaty reinsurance contracts for feedback to underwriters regarding consistency of contract with written underwriter intent / agreed upon terms and conditions; occasional advisory role to Canadian underwriters.
Highlight non-standard clause construction and noting material year-over-year changes.
Assist in internal and external contracts administration.
Maintain appropriate workflow standards to meet necessary deadlines.
Facilitate Canadian OSFI compliance and administration.
Provide occasional assistance on facultative cert wording issues.
Provide occasional feedback on emerging contractual issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Reinsurance treaty contracts analysis experience either as a contract analyst or as a treaty underwriter.
Excellent technical skills in reinsurance contract structures and coverages.
Good knowledge of reinsurance operations and industry practices.
Superior organizational skills and proven ability to work independently.
Self-motivated with ability to set high personal standards and meet them.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must possess ability to express ideas effectively and produce well organized written documents.
Ability and willingness to work with others in a positive, effective and efficient manner to accomplish team goals and objectives.
Bachelor's of Arts or Bachelor's of Sciences degree from an accredited college or university.
Potential Additional Qualifications
Experience as a contracts paralegal.
Professional insurance / reinsurance designations, such as CPCU or ARe.
