Overview The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor position from candidates with a PhD, or equivalent degree, with a record of outstanding training in glioblastoma research, expertise in DNA damage response, oncolytic virus research, memory T cell study and natural killer (NK) cell therapy. The successful candidate should exhibit evidence of obtaining federal funding. This is a full-time position in the Department of Neurosurgery. We expect the primary appointment to be in our Neurosurgery Department with the potential for cross-affiliation with other departments.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Conduct glioblastoma research

Originate research ideas

Analyze data and write manuscripts for publications

Obtain research funding through grant proposals (e.g. NIH funding)

Supervise undergraduate, graduate students, junior scientists and postdocs working on related research projects

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

PhD in Microbiology or related field

Expertise in oncolytic herpes simplex virus (oHSV) therapy for brain tumor

Expertise in conducting murine intracranial glioblastoma models

Record of obtaining federal funding

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others

Strong record of presenting research results through publications and conference abstracts

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in the study of oHSV therapy as it relates to DNA damage response (DDR) for glioblastoma treatment

Expertise in the study of combination therapy of oHSV and pharmacological inhibitors targeting DDR

Expertise in the study of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) for glioblastoma treatment

Expertise in the study of ataxia-telangectasia and Rad3 related inhibitor (ATRi) for glioblastoma treatment

Expertise in studies involving patient-derived glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs)

Expertise in studies involving intracranial glioblastoma xenograft models, genetically engineered murine glioblastoma models and patient-derived glioblastoma ex vivo models

Expertise in studies involving glioblastoma tumor microenvironment

Expertise in studies involving viral-specific tissue-resident memory CD8+ T (TRM) cells in glioblastoma

Expertise in studies involving NK cell therapy for glioblastoma

Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including immuno-blotting, coprecipitation studies, qPCR, ChIP, flow cytometry and immunofluorescence

Expertise in mouse work, including intracranial, i.v., i.p., and s.c. injections, and in vivo bioluminescent imaging

Pay and Benefits Pay Range:

$90,000 - $125,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
