Head Nurse - General pediatrics
Position Description: The Head Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care services (primarily nursing services) within an assigned specialty or sub-specialty area of a clinic. This role provides supervision and coordination of service to subordinate nursing personnel and may provide various levels of direct patient care. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions.

Responsibilities
Staff Training and Supervision: Oversees the training, orientation, and ongoing supervision of nursing staff to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
Competency Assurance: Evaluates and verifies the clinical competency of nursing staff to ensure they are qualified to perform assigned duties and provide high-quality patient care.
Staffing and Coverage Coordination: Collaborates with the Head Nurse of Specialty Pediatrics and other relevant leaders to ensure appropriate staffing and coverage for daily clinical operations.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) Monitoring: Monitors the accurate documentation and communication of patient information in Electronic Health Records (EHR), supporting clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
Regulatory Compliance and Auditing Readiness: Ensures all clinic operations and nursing practices comply with regulatory standards and guidelines. Keeps staff informed and prepared for internal and external audits.
Emergency Preparedness: Leads the planning and execution of departmental emergency response drills. Ensures staff are trained, participate actively, and respond effectively in organizational emergency preparedness activities.
Collaboration for Quality Improvement: Partners with clinical staff, providers, and leadership to identify and implement strategies that enhance patient satisfaction, safety, and the overall quality of care.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program. Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas license. At least four years in nursing, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pediatric nursing experience. Ambulatory clinic management. Master\'s degree in nursing.
