Director of Cardiovascular Imaging – Smidt Heart Institute, Cedars‑Sinai
The Department of Cardiology within the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to become the founding Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Imaging.
As the Director, you will provide visionary leadership for the establishment of one of the nation’s most comprehensive cardiovascular imaging programs. You will oversee and continually advance the full spectrum of imaging services—including echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and nuclear cardiology—while guiding a multidisciplinary team of physicians, sonographers, technologists, nurses, and administrative staff. Your leadership will drive innovation, maintain the highest diagnostic standards, and optimize operational performance across the entire imaging enterprise.
The current program includes an echocardiography laboratory that performs over 64,000 procedures annually and a cardiac imaging center that conducts more than 20,000 studies each year. Imaging faculty are engaged in research collaborations across multiple disciplines, ensuring comprehensive imaging capabilities for both adult and congenital populations. The Director will guide the growth of the cardiovascular imaging portfolio, foster excellence across all modalities, collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives, select lab and section leaders, advance research, mentor fellows and junior faculty, and may participate in clinical care as interest permits.
Qualifications
Medical Degree from an accredited medical school.
Board certification with ABIM in Cardiovascular Disease.
Eligibility for an unrestricted California medical license.
Formal advanced training and demonstrated expertise in at least two cardiac imaging modalities (echocardiography, CT, MRI, or nuclear cardiology); strong preference.
Eligible for appointment at the Professor level.
Established track record of excellence in clinical practice, research, and program leadership.
To apply, submit a current CV and Cover Letter to Dr. Christine Albert, Chair of Cardiology.
Cedars‑Sinai is an equal‑opportunity employer and encourages applications from women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities.
