Capital Procurement Manager

for its Project Sourcing and Procurement Team. The Capital Procurement Manager will report to the Project Sourcing and Procurement Team Leader and is responsible for overseeing the sourcing of capital equipment and hiring contractors for various projects. This role is critical in ensuring projects are developed and executed in alignment with key project objectives.

The ideal candidate is expected to be part of a project team and work closely with Project Managers and relevant stakeholders. The individual must demonstrate a high sense of urgency and possess the ability to solve problems to meet the needs of internal customers.

Additionally, the Capital Procurement Manager will drive and standardize process improvements while introducing innovative solutions to recurring challenges. Success in this role requires a proactive approach and the ability to present and implement effective solutions.

This role is based at GP Center in downtown Atlanta, GA or an approved GP location and involves, on average, 20% travel. However, travel may increase up to 50% based on project requirements.

Our Team Georgia-Pacific's Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) organization is responsible for the strategic category management, sourcing and procurement of the critical supplies and materials that support our facilities. The SS&P organization partners with our business partners and leverages best practices to uniquely position the team to improve decision making capabilities and capture significant savings and efficiency opportunities.

What You Will Do Work with other team members to support the development and execution of projects, including:

Project Procurement Planning

RFI/RFP issuance/review/execution

Capital Bid & Award

Manage multiple projects with some guidance from others

Leveraging lessons learned and knowledge across teams

Issue purchase orders through local ERP systems

Ensure equipment delivery dates meet customer needs for projects

Executes sourcing activities related to goods or services for projects

Negotiate and execute contract agreements with external vendors

Managing ongoing project relationships

Collaborate with internal requestors to understand requirements (e.g., specifications, scopes of work, performance, and timing requirements)

Ensures the contractual document accurately reflects the terms and conditions of purchase, including payment terms, freight terms, incoterms, and other key commercial terms

Analyzes root causes of accounts payable exceptions and takes steps to resolve and prevent

Be a source of knowledge on project sourcing and procurement processes necessary to execute projects, including best practices, system knowledge, category summaries, procurement expectations, etc., and champion change to those processes

Ensures adherence to all safety, environmental, and purchasing policies and guidelines

Manage time to accomplish a variety of tasks with a sense of urgency

Uses strong verbal and written communication skills to solve problems and provide status updates to customers and suppliers (e.g., commitment dates)

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of experience in purchasing or a similar field (e.g., industrial/manufacturing project team support, storeroom, inside sales, or supply chain)

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Experience working with GP systems, tools, and processes

What Will Put You Ahead

5 years of experience in Procurement, Project Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or Accounting

Bachelor's degree in supply chain or logistics

Experience supporting the development or execution of industrial or manufacturing projects

Passport, SAP, and/or Ariba system knowledge

Experience in purchasing or a similar supply chain field (e.g., contracts, supply chain) with knowledge of the purchasing process and procedures
