Job Description The Senior Environmental Technical Claims Specialist will join our team and work from any of the following offices: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio, or remotely from home in the continental United States. This role reports to a manager in New York City and focuses on adjudicating first and third party commercial environmental claims (mostly complex storage tank claims) and contributing to delivering superb results for our clients. Responsibilities

Adjudicate commercial environmental claims at the highest authority limits under limited oversight and broad management direction, reflecting high technical complexity and potential impact on departmental results. Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation to resolve numerous and undefined issues. Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments. Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether the loss falls within policy coverage. Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties. Manage claims in litigation. Manage diary and ensure timely and complete tasks to move cases toward the best financial outcome and timely resolution. Properly set claim reserves, considering how different policy wordings impact the reserves process. Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management. Identify, assign, and coordinate expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions to achieve the best financial outcome. Negotiate in a timely and effective manner to provide cost‑effective solutions for the company and its customers within own limits using a range of negotiation styles. Process mail and prioritize workload. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Demonstrate an appreciation and passion for strong claim management. Core qualifications and requirements

Must have good business acumen (i.e., understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts Argo Group and our customers' profitability). A deep knowledge of commercial environmental claims typically acquired through experience. A minimum of seven years' experience adjudicating commercial environmental claims with exposure of $100,000 or more. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. J.D. preferred. Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating general liability bodily injury beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Licensed Claims Examiner (based on state); must be licensed or have ability to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first party claims within 120 days. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. Excellent evaluation and strategic skills required. Strong claim negotiation skills; ability to take proactive and pragmatic approach to negotiation. Must possess a strong customer focus. Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients' business, which may include the CEO. Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Demonstrates an understanding of mechanisms for resolving claims settlement disputes (e.g., arbitration and mediation) and when these are used. Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software. Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills. The ability to read and write English fluently is required. The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package. Colorado outside of Denver metro, Maryland, Massachusetts (outside of Boston metro area), Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, and Vermont Pay Ranges: $134,800 - $185,800 Boston metro area, California outside of Los Angeles & San Francisco metro area, Connecticut, Chicago metro area, Denver metro area, New Jersey (outside of New York City metro area), New York State (outside of New York City metro area), & Washington State Pay Ranges: $148,100 - $204,300 New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas Pay Ranges: $161,800 - $223,100 About Working in Claims at Argo Group
