What to Expect
As a Tool & Die Specialist, you will support die-set maintenance and tooling changes for production in the High Pressure Die Casting department. The ideal candidates will possess excellent craftsmanship, the ability to troubleshoot, and a commitment to safety and production goals.
What You'll Do
Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and tooling changes for production die-sets
Support the design and implementation of tooling changes to accommodate part modifications
Maintain and manage die-set preventative maintenance (PM) system, including scheduling and updating work instructions
Troubleshoot defects and support the preparation of die check sheets and trial procedures
Maintain die-set spare parts lists, ensuring parts are stocked and readily available
Develop and implement systems to reduce defects, improve productivity, and minimize downtime
Collaborate on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify risks and create control plans for production dies
What You'll Bring
3+ years of hands-on experience producing structural aluminum die castings. Apprenticeship certification in Tool & Die or equivalent experience
Experience with high-speed die-sets, including tooling material selection, and knowledge of CNC die surface machining, welding, and spotting
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles (waste elimination, continuous improvement, Just-in-Time, etc.)
Ability to interpret dimensional inspection results (CMM, checking fixture, or vision systems)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and strong analytical skills
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing tight deadlines and competing priorities
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively bend, lift and reach to install parts
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Potential exposure to confined spaces, elevated heat and hazardous materials
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, arm protection, hearing protection and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
