Gas Measurement Analyst . This hybrid role will be based in one of our offices in Little Rock, Fayetteville, Fort Smith or Maumelle, AR; Lawton, OK; or Portland, ME.
Position Summary The Gas Measurement Analyst will be part of the Measurement department and report directly to the Measurement Technical Support Supervisor. The analyst will coordinate with other staff to complete measurement data analysis and administrative support. Responsibilities include monitoring, estimating, analyzing and reporting on Summit’s gas distribution system, including gas measurement, billing and Lost & Unaccounted for Gas (LUFG).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Collect and monitor electronic flow measurement data from transportation customers and town border stations.
Monitor and resolve hourly, daily and monthly data exception reports on electronic data collection units.
Provide assistance and direction to field technicians in troubleshooting data collection equipment (telephone, modem, instrumentation, etc.).
Calculate and interpret gas constituents and heating value.
Setup standard configuration and setup of electronic instruments.
Provide ready resources for field technicians on instrument setup and configurations.
Evaluate gas capacity and usage.
Support LUFG reporting and data gathering.
Generate and maintain curtailment reporting lists and priority documentation.
Support the Gas Supply Department requests to ensure adequate supplies are purchased to serve all gas distribution needs on all pipelines.
Receive city gate volume data via hard copy volume statements, input them into internal systems such as FlowCal, and review for abnormal flow characteristics.
Provide volume statements and gas measurement data to Gas Supply Department, CCS, billing, third parties and end‑users.
Resolve questions from third parties and end‑users and provide volume calculation backup for data and estimates.
Set up electronic flow meters for transportation customers in coordination with Marketing, Gas Supply, and CCS Billing representatives.
Represent Summit in volumetric settlements and disputes.
Provide daily and monthly reports on gas measurement operations.
Gather field documentation on measurement activities and track testing status as required.
Maintain consistency in billing devices.
Audit third‑party gas volumes for appropriateness and compare receipts to system deliveries for supporting LUFG.
Collect and review gas analysis for proper gas quality, heating value (BTU), and contract performance requirements, ensuring proper import into FlowCal.
Maintain and modify supporting data programs used in collection of field data, retrieval, compilation, and reporting.
Provide data record management for gas volume administration and audit requests.
Education and Work Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a regulated natural gas utility or 5 years in a coordinator position involving utility support; or a combination of education and experience.
Business, Engineering or Technology degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent analytical, organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail.
Polished interpersonal and communication skills for meetings, one‑on‑one exchanges and technical presentations.
Ability to collaborate well with teams inside and outside the measurement department.
Ability to give constructive and positive feedback.
High level of personal initiative and motivation.
Working knowledge of natural gas measurement.
Experience with SAP, Cayenta, FlowCal and/or Quorum software platforms preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
