Family Mediator Extra Help - $38.66/hour About the Position Lane County’s Family Mediation Team is looking for a Family Mediator to join us in helping parents navigate conflict and create healthier futures for their children.

Family mediation is challenging and deeply meaningful work. Parents turn to us during some of the hardest moments in their lives, and our mediators play a key role in guiding them through a respectful and structured process. In this role, you will help parents reach custody and parenting time agreements, teach parent education classes, and support families with tools to move forward in positive ways.

We welcome applicants who meet the required training and certification standards for court-connected mediators and who are eager to grow their careers in family mediation. This role offers an opportunity to apply your skills in conflict resolution, family law, counseling, or related fields, and to learn from a supportive, collegial team committed to professionalism, humor, and care for one another.

As a Family Mediator, you will:

Provide custody and parenting time mediation that centers children’s needs.

Facilitate court-connected parent education classes.

Manage case details, maintain client records, and prepare program data reports.

Partner with the Court and community services to strengthen family systems in Lane County.

About the Team The Family Mediation Team, part of Lane County’s Community Justice and Rehabilitation Services Division, helps prevent, reduce, and resolve family conflict while promoting healthy relationships. We are a small, collaborative team committed to providing high-quality services in a collegial environment built on trust, professionalism, and care for one another. Our work emphasizes equity, inclusion, and continuous learning, and we value adaptability, good judgment, and compassion in serving families in our community.

Additional information: This is a non-represented position. This is a remote only position. This position is budgeted for a maximum of 520 hours during the fiscal year that runs from July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026.

Education

Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral science, or a law degree from an accredited law school with substantial coursework and/or Continuing Legal Education credits in family law.

Experience

Participation in at least 20 cases of domestic relations mediation totaling at least 100 hours, or two years of professional mediation, direct therapy/counseling experience or legal practice with domestic relations or juvenile caseloads, that otherwise satisfies the experience/training requirements for court-connected domestic relations mediators.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities as required by OJD Court-Connected Mediator qualifications rules is qualifying.

Special Requirements

Must meet the court-connected domestic relations mediator qualifications outlined in UTCR Chapter 12.

30-Hour Basic Mediation Training Certificate.

40-Hour Domestic Relations Mediation Training Certificate.

Co-mediated or mediated at least 100 hours of court-connected domestic relations mediation.
