Occupational Health Nurse - LPN

The Occupational Health Nurse-LPN provides focused nursing care through the assessment and treatment of occupational-related illnesses and injuries within a poultry complex. This role maintains Federal, State, and company recordkeeping for OSHA and Workers’ Compensation, completes post-offer drug screening, and reviews medical histories and other required forms. Responsibilities and Tasks

Review post offer medical history with the employee, assess concerns, and make referral recommendations according to established protocol Administer drug and alcohol testing per company policies, including post-offer drug screens Administer first aid, nursing, or emergency care for workplace injuries and illnesses within the LPN scope of practice, occupational health nursing guidelines, and applicable directives; consult with Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant RN(s) and refer cases to higher level of care when indicated Assist with medical cost management through early identification, treatment, and follow-up nursing care for injuries and illnesses Partner with workers’ compensation adjuster, case managers, and providers to resolve claims in a timely manner Utilize an electronic medical record to maintain accurate injury, OSHA, and workers compensation recordkeeping with timely documentation Serve as a member of the Safety and Ergonomics committee, supporting safety and ergonomic functions and helping recognize and prevent workplace hazards Develop wellness initiatives and programs aligned with company goals Lead ergonomics initiatives, analyze injury data, identify trends, and implement improvement efforts; manage the Ergonomics Job Measurement System Manage respiratory protection, first responder, and blood-borne pathogen programs for employees Conduct new hire orientation related to safety and medical matters Advise, coach, and educate employees on preventative health and wellness Maintain adequate medical supplies for the facility and order supplies as needed Assist with accident investigations Communicate with medical, legal, and insurance personnel; represent site in workers’ compensation litigation as required Consult with the Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant Nurse-RN(s) as required Perform additional relevant duties as assigned Supervisor Responsibilities

None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy Education and Certifications

Licensed Practical Nurse with current, active, and unrestricted state license Experience and Skills

Minimum three (3) years’ nursing experience; occupational health experience preferred Knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards and recordkeeping requirements Highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills; multi-lingual preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience in Workers’ Compensation administration and case management within a manufacturing plant preferred Ability to keep sensitive information confidential and handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and sense of urgency Safety Requirements

Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs Wear required protective equipment in all applicable areas Physical Requirements
