About the Team Developer Experience is at the heart of Capital One’s approach to cloud enablement. The team focuses on improving developer productivity by automating software quality assurance in the DevOps pipeline, empowering in‑house engineers to reduce operational risks and defects while maintaining high standards for quality and security.

As a Senior Product Manager on the Developer Experience Product team, you will envision, design, and deliver solutions that improve the quality of life for software delivery teams, while upholding the highest quality and security standards. You will define and execute strategy to improve developer productivity, test automation, and the delivery pipeline. You will partner with engineering and design to deliver tools and strategies for how developers write, build, and test code, and you will drive adoption of development tools and automated testing across the DevOps pipeline.

This role champions developer needs by applying Software Development Life Cycle practices and industry standards to establish the developer experience vision and strategies. Responsibilities include defining features and collaborating with technical teams to ensure delivered capabilities meet business objectives. The successful candidate thrives in ambiguous environments, collaborates with technical experts, and balances strategic vision with day‑to‑day priorities. Strong communication with engineering teams and diverse stakeholders is essential.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

Technical depth to propose and influence new product ideas, especially in automation and enterprise quality/risk domains

Experience translating business strategy into consumer-facing digital products

Ability to work with stakeholders to understand dependencies and prioritize customer needs

Experience preparing strategic roadmaps and communicating them to leadership

Experience delivering products in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, distributed, and often ambiguous environments

Analytical and quantitative skills with data-driven decision making

Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience engaging senior executives

Strong work ethic, teamwork, and willingness to roll up your sleeves

Responsibilities

Engage stakeholders (Engineers, SDLC, Architecture, Risk, Cyber) to voice customer needs, identify new capabilities, define features, and work with development teams to implement them

Understand technical language and articulate requirements to engineers

Drive the product management practice within the organization, defining expectations and commitments

Operationalize product metrics and build business cases for new investments

Influence senior stakeholders to use our products and share outcomes to strengthen investment

Basic Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience in Product Management

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a quantitative degree as described below, with the expectation that the degree will be obtained by the start date: a Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems) or a Master's Degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Preferred Qualifications

Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer‑facing digital products

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work within the listed locations and refer to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at posting. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated.

Chicago, IL: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Plano, TX: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location; the actual salary will be in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible for performance‑based incentives, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
