Portfolio Team Leader - Commercial
Amerant Bank is seeking a Portfolio Team Leader to oversee the credit portfolio administration and monitoring of credit quality for the Commercial Loan Portfolio. The role leads a team of Portfolio Managers who support business segments in monitoring, maintaining, and originating new and existing loans in alignment with credit programs and policy.
Responsibilities
Oversee staff and provide transactional support to Relationship Managers with proposals, term sheets, and credit memos while ensuring adherence to the Bank’s credit programs and policy.
Coordinate efforts with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Credit Services, Processing Unit, and Credit Risk to streamline processes and maintain accuracy of reports and credit quality.
Conduct the annual review of existing credit relationships; recommend changes in risk rating as appropriate and calculate covenant testing and risk rating trigger requirements.
Administer and monitor maturities, delinquencies, and asset reports on a regular basis; identify red flags or problems within the portfolio and report irregularities to the supervisor.
Streamline the loan origination process for Relationship Managers to facilitate the approval process and report issues to the supervisor.
Provide support in developing, enhancing, and promoting new and existing loan products.
Supervise, coach, train, and mentor team members to enhance their knowledge and provide better support to Relationship Managers.
Ensure preventive measures are carried out to comply with BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and other AML related issues.
Assist management with ongoing projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Certifications Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance required. Master’s degree preferred or 7+ years of commercial and retail portfolio management experience in lieu of education. Formal credit training required.
Minimum Work Experience 10+ years of professional experience in lending and/or portfolio management field and/or credit analysis. Knowledgeable of banking products and documentation.
Technical and Other Essential Knowledge Thorough understanding of the Bank’s credit procedures, programs and policy. Accounting and credit principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required; experience in SQL is a plus. Salesforce, nCino, FIS IBS experience is a plus. Sound time management and organizational skills required. Must possess strong communication skills.
