About The Role
First Bank of Montana is hiring a Teller / Customer Service Representative at our Chester, Montana location. The role involves providing deposit and customer service solutions, opening and maintaining accounts, and performing teller duties. A positive attitude, strong customer service skills, and teamwork are essential. Confidentiality, punctuality, and adaptability are required.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations such as Dodd‑Frank, BSA/AML, the Patriot Act, and OFAC. Must complete online training courses and achieve at least an 85% score.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teller Essential Functions:
Handle all deposit/withdrawal transactions, cashing checks, balancing cash, and processing overnight deposits.
Verify check endorsements and identify forged or counterfeit checks.
Accept loan and cash advance payments, and process telephone transfers.
Maintain vault cash levels, follow branch, division, and corporate policies.
Follow teller capture procedures and resolve errors.
Answer incoming phone calls and report equipment issues.
New Account / Customer Service Functions:
Open and maintain checking, savings, CD, IRA, and other deposit accounts.
Assist customers with products and services, including online banking enrollment.
Maintain existing account relationships through courteous service.
Adhere to all brand and corporate policies.
Other Job Functions
Maintain compliance with BSA/AML, OFAC, GLBA, and privacy rules.
Keep management informed of area activities and issues.
Participate in community and bank-sponsored events.
Represent the bank professionally with a strong customer‑first attitude.
About You QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: banking and/or customer service experience.
Preferred: cash handling experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to work quickly and accurately.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn new systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work in a climate‑controlled, shared indoor area with minimal noise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Typical duties include sitting, repetitive hand motions, standing occasionally, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of routine computer use for 6–8 hrs per day and occasional travel.
