Position Concept This position is responsible for assisting the Solar department in the daily operation and maintenance activities for the solar and energy storage sites and support the engineering team in tracking effective inspection, monitoring, environmental compliance, and preventative maintenance programs.
Accountabilities As a successful candidate for our Co‑Op/Alternate—Solar & Energy Storage Engineering, you would perform the following:
Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive data collection and predictive modeling tool for solar facilities and collector stations that assists in the prioritization of expenditures.
Assist in the facilitation of system root cause analysis for solar facilities and collector stations. Assist in facilitation and tracking of resulting action plans to maintain appropriate system performance.
Support the verification and management of each solar site’s as‑built drawing to ensure the most recent version is in Open Text.
Assist in document creation to support operations and to create standards to use as the department grows with ever‑changing technologies.
Assist the Solar Turnover group with walk‑down of sites before they are handed over to Solar and Energy Storage Operations.
Assist in the operation of all battery storage facilities, including creating operating procedures and schedules and performing all necessary testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Excellent communication skills to clearly communicate ideas to all levels within the organization.
Strong self‑motivation complemented with high productivity to perform well.
Ability and desire to learn work management systems in power generation and delivery.
Strong project management and time management skills.
Knowledge of database concepts.
Education, Certification & GPA The successful applicant should be in their second, third, or fourth year of an ABET‑accredited university or college, undergraduate‑ or graduate‑level, post‑secondary educational program in an engineer discipline. To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university’s co‑op program is required.
Desired Major(s) Engineering majors from an ABET accredited university or college.

Working Conditions The Solar & Energy Storage Engineering Co‑Op can expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Working conditions are both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The level of stress varies depending on workload and company deadlines.
Physical Demands Requirement Must be able to work in dusty and hot environments. Must be able to ascend and descend from ladders and stairs. Walking (sometimes on uneven surfaces), bending, and driving as needed.

Storm Duty Requirements Responding to storm events will be considered a condition of employment. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to TECO Energy customers. Team members may be required to work in normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
