Speech Language Pathologist - PRN
Summary: Speech‑Language Pathologists evaluate and design treatment and provides instruction to patient/family to maximize functional independence. Provide services that identify, prevent and rehabilitate speech, language, cognition, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. Evaluates and analyzes patients, treatment and instruction to patient/family to maximize functional independence. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatrics and/or adults and mature adults. May work in any of the following locations: in‑patient, out‑patient, pediatrics.
Responsibilities
Performs speech/language evaluations. Demonstrates technical skill and accuracy in performing basic evaluation procedures.
Performs speech/language therapy treatment planning and implementation. Utilizes appropriate intervention, procedure & equipment/materials as defined by specialty area.
Provides patient/family education and training.
Provides peer review and participates in performance improvement activities.
Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.
Initiates discharge planning.
Continuing education: attends 20 hours per year, provides two hours of in‑service education to staff per year.
Provides full‑time clinical experience to student.
Acts as mentor to lower level staff.
Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluating assisting staff.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education MASTER'S LVL DGRE
Requirements
Minimum Experience: Bachelor's degree and minimum one year of experience.
Desired: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification and CPR certification. Experience with FEES or MBS.
Credentials: ASHA, SPT
Working Conditions
Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity.
Occupational: Some occupational risk.
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force.
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
