FLEET MANAGER AND ALASKA OUTREACH AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS Category: Manufacturing, Operations and Production

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. Job Summary (Government Affairs Role) : Supports Trident Seafoods’ outreach and engagement with Alaska fishermen, communities, and decision makers on issues related to Trident’s operations and reputational risk in Alaska. Report to Director, Alaska Public Affairs and Fisheries Development.

Location: Juneau/Anchorage

Essential Functions :

Assist in developing and implementing Trident’s Alaska community/fishermen outreach strategy.

Attend North Pacific Fishery Management Council and Alaska Board of Fishery meetings.

Attend community, fisheries, and other events in Alaska, with goal of maintaining open communication and advancing mutually interests.

Build effective relationships with Trident Alaska operations representatives and independent fleet in Alaska.

Stay informed of Trident and industry gear innovation and research and assist in developing and implementing communication tools to help convey work to stakeholders and decision makers.

Provide input and advice on charitable giving, contributions to research and workforce development initiatives, and public outreach and communications in Alaska.

Collaborate with Trident internal and external communications team on material related to Alaska outreach, reputation, or fisheries.

Gain familiarity with corporate practices and fisheries management through site visits, including to locations that are remote and may not have all amenities.

Periodic domestic and in‑state travel to support duties, including outreach and communications.

Summary (Fleet Manager) : The Fleet Manager plays a key role in the strategic growth, support and stabilization of independent fishing fleets.

Location: Sand Point (peak A/B pollock seasons; peak red/pink salmon season)

Key Responsibilities:

Communicates with fleet to plan and schedule deliveries of fish to ensure consistent flow of product without overwhelming production capacity.

Prepares and updates logs, schedules and other documents to ensure production team has up to date information on vessel schedule.

Ensures round the clock coverage of fleet phone to ensure consistent and effective communication with vessels.

Supports good relationships with the fleet through advice, morale, problem solving and facilitation.

Communicates with existing fishermen and establishes relationships with new prospects.

Creates plan for fleet expansion and pursues new business regularly in coordination with plant management.

Acts as a source of information on Trident services and offerings, and gains understanding of fishermen’s views on industry topics. Reports trends to key stakeholders.

Estimates bait needs and procures bait as needed to ensure sufficient inventory for each season.

Updates and maintains bait pricing list.

Reviews and maintains tender contracts, updating as needed for each season.

Communicates with fleet regularly to ensure Trident is providing appropriate service and support.

Provides customer service to fishing fleet including assisting with accounting and general inquiries.

Assists plant production staff with tender offload and location scheduling, tracking fleet production and capacity, product mix, production rates and freight.

Additional Responsibilities:

Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

A minimum of five years’ experience in the fishing industry, preferably with commercial fishing experience.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements

Understanding of fishing vessels and basic mechanics, and Alaska maritime industry. Experience managing fleet operations is preferred.
