Financial Controller/Senior Hedge Fund Accountant
Our client is a boutique Long/Short Hedge Fund in New York. The firm focuses primarily on mining sector investments, with exposure to both U.S. and Australian equities.
In just two years, the firm has experienced exceptional growth, tripling assets under management to exceed $100 million USD, and operates as a tight-knit team of six. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly scaling investment firm with a strong performance track record and a collaborative culture.
The Opportunity We are seeking a Financial Accountant / Bookkeeper to support this growing fund’s internal financial operations.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience who wants to gain exposure to hedge fund operations while supporting both business and personal financial management for the firm’s principals.
You’ll work closely with senior management and external auditors (EY), assisting with day-to-day accounting, reporting, and compliance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial statements, returns, and reports.
Liaise with EY and other external advisors.
Assist with internal accounting, budgeting, and personal finance coordination.
Support management reporting and fund operations.
Provide general administrative and financial support to the investment team.
About You
2–3 years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance.
Strong understanding of general ledger management and accounting principles.
Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Confident working with auditors and external advisors.
Proactive, dependable, and able to thrive in a small-team environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Preference for female candidates, reflecting the client’s emphasis on communication and team balance.
