Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

POSITION SUMMARY The Quality Technician provides technical support to the quality engineering functions. Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components and parts at various stages of the production process, to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials and components on all types of standard and special products, to insure alignment with product requirements and quality standards

Coordinated calibration activities and maintained calibration records for all tools, instruments, and gages used for product acceptance and verification/validation

Assists Engineering and Operations in the investigation of non‑conformities

Performed internal audits to verify all procedures, work instructions are in accordance with AS9100 standards

Updates quality procedures and work instructions in compliance with AS9100/ISO as needed to reflect current and/or changing processes, lending to AS9100/ISO compliance and successful audits with minimal findings

Perform visual and mechanical inspection at sub‑assembly and final assembly using engineering drawings and testing

Inspecting wires, sensors such as force sensors, pressure sensors, etc. using ring gauges, calipers, torque ranges, micrometers, and other tools

Inspect for defects – corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, verify specs using purchase orders, blueprints, drawings

Provides detail analysis, troubleshooting and evaluation of components, assemblies and systems

Maintains documentation records and data on tests performed

Sets up or builds special test panels to facilitate testing and/or evaluation as needed

Other responsibilities as assigned

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED required. Additional training or degree preferred.

4‑6 years or more of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skilled at performing examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components and parts on all types of standard and special products

Must have experience with all types of inspection tools like: Gauges, calipers, height gages, pin and block gages, V‑blocks surface inspection tables, micrometers, and comparators

Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, as well as Aero Space Standards like AS9100 use on aviation, space and defense organizations

Familiar with the casting, forging, molding, stainless‑steel and electronic components use in Aerospace industry. Experience creating First Article Inspection Reports in compliance with AS9102 and customer‑specific requirements

Experience in performing internal audits based on established criteria and records the results

Experience with interpreting engineering drawings using the language of Geometrical Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T) described in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 standards

Experience completing first articles (FAI) in accordance with the Aerospace Standards AS9102

Ability to independently resolve standard assignments

Experience with blueprints, drawings and parts lists

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Effective oral and written communication

Ability to work on assignments that are moderately complex where judgement is required in evaluating information, resolving problems and making recommendations

Ability to work with only general work direction with no instructions usually given for routine work and general instructions given for new work or special assignments

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Competitive Compensation

Pay Range: $23.75/hr to $39.55/hr
