Large, mission-driven, and highly stable, our client is a rare platform for financial leadership in NYC's nonprofit sector. Key Responsibilities of Controller: Financial Oversight:
Lead all accounting, reporting, and consolidation for housing and real estate entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance.
Tax & Audit Management:
Oversee preparation and review of tax filings and coordinate annual audits for all related entities.
Strategic Financial Partnership:
Advise the CFO and Housing Development leadership on project structuring, financing, and compliance.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
Align financial practices with operational and funding goals across Real Estate Development, Property Management, and Program teams.
Special Projects & Systems:
Lead financial system upgrades, technology initiatives, and contribute to broader financial strategy and capital planning.
Qualifications of Controller:
Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or controller-level role.
Background in nonprofit and affordable housing accounting and familiarity with LIHTC and real estate finance.
Strong command of GAAP, tax compliance, consolidations, and audit management for complex entity structures.
