Responsibilities
We are seeking a versatile and patient-centered Clinical Staff Member to join our Family Medicine team. This role is open to Certified Medical Assistants (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), or Registered Nurses (RN), and involves providing high-quality clinical support to patients and providers. The ideal candidate will have experience or interest in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFTs) and may be asked to float to Internal Medicine as needed to support overall clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists
Assist providers with examinations and procedures in a family medicine setting
Perform and assist with Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) and spirometry, following appropriate training and protocols
Administer immunizations, injections, and medications as permitted by licensure
Provide patient education under provider direction, including follow-up instructions and care coordination
Accurately document patient information and clinical tasks in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Prepare exam rooms, manage clinical supplies, and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Collaborate with providers and other staff to ensure efficient and compassionate patient care
Float to Internal Medicine as needed, supporting care teams with similar clinical duties
Follow clinic protocols, HIPAA guidelines, and patient safety standards at all times
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
One of the following credentials is required:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with active certification through AAMA, NCCT, NHA, or AMT and accredited program
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current Iowa licensure
Registered Nurse (RN) with current Iowa licensure
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – current or willing to obtain
Mandatory Reporter training (child and dependent adult abuse) – current or willing to complete
Competence in basic clinical procedures and documentation
Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
