Dental Assistant – Lincoln Avenue Medical‑Dental Clinic

Position Highlights

  • Compensation: $21.23–$26.01 DOE (salary can be higher for experienced candidates)
  • Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure: $1,500 at hire, $2,000 at 180 days, $1,500 at 12 months (pro‑rated for FTE)

What You’ll Do

  • Update patient medical records and conduct X‑ray procedures (panoramic images and intraoral photographs)
  • Record periodontal charting and prepare instruments/equipment for provider exams
  • Perform preventive care such as fluoride treatments and manage nitrous oxide analgesia under provider supervision (Washington only)
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene in clinic and school‑based programs
  • Assist in patient infection control program and sterilize instruments/equipment
  • Assist in orthodontics: record patient data, bite registrations, fabricate retainers, place/remove ligature ties
  • May perform lead duties: maintain daily department flow, liaison between line staff and supervisor, manage breaks/lunches, provide training to new and existing staff

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS certification within 90 days
  • Surgical Technologist registration if assisting in OR
  • Registration as a Dental Assistant or EFDA certification (must be completed within 7 days of hire)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at level 10 for differential pay
  • Basic knowledge of medical/dental terminology, dental anatomy, materials, infection control, and oral health instruction
  • Ability to perform four‑handed dental assisting (instrument transfer, oral evacuation, cement mixing, spatulation)
  • Strong manual dexterity, coordination, and professional interaction with patients of all ages
  • Proficiency in Electronic Dental Record (EDR), Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • NOTE: Assistants without Washington Dental Assistant registration cannot perform essential functions until registered; prior to registration, only observation and paperwork roles are permitted.
