Job Description The Head of Marketing leads a large team of marketing, digital, and web professionals, overseeing ABA’s comprehensive marketing strategies covering advocacy, education, training, events, and member retention and recruitment.
The role oversees the user experience and operations of ABA’s web properties, social media platforms, and digital campaigns, while leading the organization’s email marketing and overall brand strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Chief Communications Officer to conceive and execute industry‑wide campaigns to support ABA’s policy priorities, leveraging digital advertising, social media, print, radio, video, and paid sponsorships, managing a seven‑figure budget.
Oversee all marketing support for ABA’s Training, Education, and Events business and direct integrated campaigns to acquire and retain member banks.
Manage ABA’s website, ABA.com and digital customer experience team, collaborating closely with IT on website and digital property enhancements.
Oversee the Creative Services team, producing over 1,000 digital and print projects annually.
Develop and implement marketing strategies for ABA’s free member resources, including website content, social media, email campaigns, e‑bulletins, and publications.
Manage contracts and budget for third‑party technology platforms and providers, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Participate in the banker‑led ABA Communications Council to guide organizational communications priorities.
Requirements Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
15+ years of marketing and communications experience.
Experience managing multi‑channel marketing campaigns, digital strategy, and brand development.
Experience leading and coaching a team and working successfully across an enterprise.
Knowledge of the banking industry and trade association space preferred but not required.
Ability to travel less than 20%.
Skills & Competencies
Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
Experience with digital marketing, social media, content strategy, and analytics.
Experience managing large budgets, resources, and vendor relationships.
Data‑driven decision‑making and ability to measure marketing ROI.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize among competing priorities.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
