Overview

Volunteer Board Member Psychiatrists (Clinical) or MD Physician. TURN Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Medical Physician or Clinical Psychiatrists to join our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position that involves guiding the organization’s clinical strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing TURN’s mission to enhance community wellness. Responsibilities

Serve on one committee (Board Development, HR, Ethics & Compliance, Finance, Audit, Executive). Attend bi-monthly Board meetings (virtual and in-person). Provide expert clinical guidance on strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, and new program development. Support quality improvement initiatives, licensing and accreditation efforts, and integration of care models. Collaborate with other board members to inform organizational strategy. Review and approve TURN Behavioral Health Services annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; fulfill fiduciary responsibilities. Develop strategies to diversify funding and increase philanthropic support. Participate in fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship. Evaluate community engagement and philanthropy efforts and recommend improvements. Perform duties of board membership per duties of care, loyalty, and obedience for non-profit boards. Review outcomes and metrics used to evaluate impact; prepare for board and committee meetings. Contribute to annual CEO performance evaluation. Participate in board meetings and committees to guide community connection and philanthropy. Assist the CEO and board chair in identifying and recruiting additional Board Members. Ensure board resolutions are carried out in partnership with the CEO and other members. Serve on committees or task forces and take on special assignments. Qualifications

Required: Experience and accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector. Current license as a Clinical Psychiatrist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or Physician (M.D. or D.O.) in California, or eligibility for California licensure. Minimum of 10 years of progressive clinical and operational leadership experience within mental health, behavioral health, healthcare systems, or public health sectors. Strong understanding of behavioral health regulations, compliance, nonprofit governance, and contemporary care models. Commitment to equity, recovery, and culturally responsive care. Preferred: Previous experience on a Board of Directors for a non-profit or healthcare organization. Familiarity with Medi-Cal systems and the California mental health landscape. Experience supporting quality improvement or system transformation in healthcare. Ideal Attributes: Strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven with a forward-thinking mindset.
