Under limited supervision, the Manager - JIB Accounting oversees joint interest billing activities, including maintaining ledgers for shared well and facility costs, managing partner collections and disbursements, and ensuring contract compliance. This role collaborates closely with Field Operations, Land, and Operations teams to monitor capital spend and AFE activity. Additional responsibilities include joint venture expense audits, inventory accounting, and operational expenditure tracking, with a focus on compliance with GAAP, COPAS, JOAs, and related agreements. The position reports to the Senior Director – Accounting in the Denver office.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a team of direct reports, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and timely.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, COPAS, and joint operating agreements; partner with the Assistant Controller and other members of the Jonah team.
Act as subject‑matter expert and main point of contact for all JIB situations.
Partner with the Corporate Accounting team to timely post and/or process recurring monthly journal entries, including accruals to facilitate an accurate and timely GL close.
Review and/or prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations.
Maintain a JIB desk manual.
Process monthly non‑operated JIB invoices; analyze any billed discrepancies with thorough follow‑up and resolution.
Perform partner and business vendor set‑up and maintenance as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of JIB leveraging the company's ERP system (Quorum).
Manage the relationship and interactions with the Procurement Department for processing MTs and other inventory inquiries.
Partner with the field office to ensure inventory is tracked and recorded in the GL correctly.
Perform ongoing evaluation of field inventory value to ensure a lower of cost or net realizable value is applied.
Conduct inventory counts in accordance with SOX narratives, or more frequently.
Prepare journal entries to ensure the GL appropriately reflects inventory balances.
Correspond with third parties to ensure inventory held offsite is appropriately accounted for.
Work with outside operators to coordinate audits, comply with data requests, resolve JIB audit issues, and issue audit response letters.
Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

Work closely with external auditors to provide appropriate documentation for joint venture and financial statement audits.
Provide timely and thorough responses/resolutions to all internal and external inquiries.

Proactively educate and cross‑train key activities to others in the accounting department.
Proactively review processes and procedures for accuracy and propose improvements.
Troubleshoot and test ERP modules specific to job functions as needed.
Provide timely analysis of various JIB G/L accounts as needed.
Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networks, and professional organizations.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support the success of the department and company.
