Are you a WOME Safety Engineer or Consultant with experience delivering safety and integration projects across complex defence systems?
We're proud to be supporting a leading UK engineering and safety consultancy as they continue to grow their WOME capability - working on some of the most cutting‑edge programmes in defence and national security.
This is a great opportunity to join a highly respected team shaping the safety strategies for advanced and novel weapon systems - including directed energy weapons, hypersonics, autonomous ordnance clearance, conventional weapons, and the UK deterrent.
Role As a
Senior Safety Consultant , you will provide specialist technical expertise to high‑profile clients, influencing the design, operation and maintenance of complex WOME systems to ensure that safety and risk are managed to the highest standards. You’ll play a pivotal role in both project delivery and business development, guiding teams and clients through safety case development, certification, and integration challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hazard and risk analysis leadership for WOME projects.
Conduct independent safety audits and assessments.
Develop and implement safety strategies for complex and novel WOME systems.
Lead WOME integration studies across air, maritime, and land platforms.
Define and deliver WOME certification and qualification strategies and programmes.
Support clients with technical consultancy, assurance, and stakeholder engagement.
Mentor and support junior safety consultants.
About You You’ll bring proven experience in WOME safety, systems integration, or related defence safety domains – with the ability to influence technical direction and manage risk across complex engineering programmes.
Essential Requirements
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
Strong understanding of WOME safety and integration principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
UK national with eligibility for UK Security Clearance.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the UK Engineering Council.
Previous consultancy experience or proven WOME background.
