Sign‑On Bonus:

$25,000 –

Recent grads eligible for $12,500

if registry eligible. Pay Range:

$79,000 – $118,400 per year plus shift differentials ($4.75/hr for nights).

Summary Provides high‑quality care in a cost‑effective and timely manner to patients throughout the continuum. Performs critical and lab assessments of the cardiopulmonary patients and is available to work across the WCHN Network. Recommends, modifies, and administers oxygen therapy, pharmacological agents, bronchial hygiene, airway, and ventilator care.

Responsibilities

Manages the Ventilator/Rounding protocol; helps MD to assess cardiopulmonary status; strives to reduce length of patient’s stay on ventilator and in ICU.

Assesses patient’s cardiopulmonary compromise; treats hypoxia/bronchospasm with proper modalities such as O2 and bronchodilators.

Draws arterial blood gases, analyzes results, and makes recommendations for therapy or changes in therapy.

Performs non‑invasive mask ventilation (BIPAP/CPAP).

Manages neonate and surgical patients on ventilators.

Educates patients on disease state and home regime to reduce re‑admission.

Educates surgical patients.

Responds to trauma alerts, code green, code 33, and code blue; attends to and stabilizes patients.

Transports ventilator patients.

Enters charges and changes for each patient served into the computer; documents per department standards.

Attends mandatory in‑service and department meetings per PEP standards.

Assists in orientation and education of new staff.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Associate’s level – DGRE. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.

Required Credentials Advanced level; CPR – Healthcare Provider; NBRC, RESP qualification; ventilator management skills for adults and NICU.

Minimum Experience One year.

Physical Requirements Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity. Occupational: significant occupational risk. Physical Effort: Very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs. force. Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Company Danbury Hospital – Pulmonary Medicine Department.

Salary Range $28.78 – $53.45 per hour.
