Microbiology Supervisor – Night Shift - Casa Grande, AZ
Overview
The Micro Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operation of the Plant Microbiology QA Laboratories, including Environmental Monitoring Program (equipment swabs, air samples, retort cooling water, ingredient water, and product samples), biochemical characterization and identification, raw material, in-process, and finished product testing; ensuring methods and procedures are followed; ensuring CAPA activities are completed; providing direction and technical expertise to Microbiology Laboratory personnel and to the plant; and providing leadership during problem solving related to microbial issues.
What You’ll Work On
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
Manage budgetary and staff requirements to be properly met.
Provide product and manufacturing microbial support for retort, powder, and aseptic lines.
Interface with division personnel in the development of microbiological guidelines and specifications.
Ensure compliance to all procedures and policies concerning quality, regulatory, safety and human resources for all reporting departments.
Coach, develop, and mentor employees; recruit, select, develop, and retain staff; conduct performance reviews; develop growth plans; interpret and support employee-related policies and programs; assign projects/tasks to direct staff.
Develop and administer a technically sound Environmental Monitoring program, updating as appropriate.
Lead problem solving efforts related to microbial issues.
Direct plant-initiated microbiological certification activities resulting from new or modified manufacturing facilities or processes.
Interface with Division and Corporate QA, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory Affairs and Purchasing to ensure timely completion of project activities.
Provide technical guidance and support to the plant.
Assure lab test results reflect compliance to plant, division, and corporate guidelines and procedures; ensure test methods are followed.
Attend plant Management Review meetings to communicate and oversee microbiological issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related area.
Technical knowledge related to sterilization methods, microbial physiology, biochemical characterization of microbial isolates, disinfection/sanitization methods, and a strong understanding of aseptic handling procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Food Science or Microbiology (preferred but not required).
Two years experience in Microbiology testing methods and techniques plus two years supervisory experience (preferred).
Shift This is a 12-hour Night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am and allows you to have every other weekend off.
Week 1: Mon - OFF, Tue - OFF, Wed - 12 hours, Thu - 12 hours, Fri - OFF, Sat - OFF, Sun – OFF
Week 2: Mon - 12 hours, Tue - 12 hours, Wed - OFF, Thu - OFF, Fri - 12 hours, Sat - 12 hours, Sun - 12 hours
Week 3: Mon - OFF, Tue - OFF, Wed - 12 hours, Thu - 12 hours, Fri - OFF, Sat - OFF, Sun - OFF
Week 4: Mon - 12 hours, Tue - 12 hours, Wed - OFF, Thu - OFF, Fri - 12 hours, Sat - 12 hours, Sun - 12 hours
Training Training will be on day shift.

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
