Sales Engineer-Controls
in our Columbia, SC office. Develop sales strategies for assigned commercial, healthcare and industrial clients and market segments. Achieve business objective by creating sales and controlling project-related costs. Develop multiple relationships with new and existing customers (owner, facility manager, project manager, project engineer, design engineers, purchasing, etc.) to facilitate sales success and effective account management. Utilize sales and account management process - perform sales interviews with prospective clients to determine client needs and qualify sales opportunities. Survey and appraise building systems (including HVAC and Building Automation Systems) for value-adding project opportunities. Prepare solutions design, proposals and presentations. Aggressively manage proposals to close sales. Maintain an active backlog of proposals to assure your annual booking goal is consistently met. Achieve annual sales targets necessary to grow the business within your assigned market. Increase business opportunities within accounts. Provide management with required sales and activity reporting. Support engineering evaluation process in project opportunities as identified individually or as an account team member. This responsibility includes providing territory-wide mechanical engineering support. Support project engineering design needs and provide Professional Engineering review and stamping as required. Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time. Qualifications and Requirements
Successful candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years’ mechanical design experience. Mechanical Engineering Degree Registered Professional Engineer Experience in preparing engineering calculations, energy modeling and savings calculations, construction drawings, and project specifications. Strong knowledge of applied HVAC equipment systems, Building Automation Systems and associated support services Strong business decision-making skills with a solid financial acumen Solid problem-solving and proven negotiating skills High sense of urgency Closing skills, motivation for sales, prospecting skills, sales planning, selling to customer needs, high energy level, meeting sales goals, professionalism. Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products. Proficient with CRM or sales force automation tools. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required. Physical Demands: Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment, clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person and/or on the telephone, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use, lift 25 lbs. occasionally, 5-10 lbs. frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.
