Position Summary

The

Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II)

is required to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and verify the performance of complex biomedical equipment with minimal supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of these duties. The BMET may serve as technical advisor to the medical and clinical staff in the safe operation and use of clinical equipment. This position also assists in developing specifications for the selection of new clinical equipment. Technical Service

Inspect, maintain, repair and calibrate complex biomedical equipment and systems. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions using test equipment, diagnostic software, and manufacturer resources. Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks. Regulatory Compliance

Ensure equipment safety, functionality, and documentation meet the standards set by the Department of Health, TJC and Insight’s Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP). Maintain accurate, timely entries in the CMMS system, including repair histories, PM completions, and inventory changes. Relationship Management: Provides advanced support of equipment for direct patient care, interacts on a routine basis with clinical health providers in the identification of technology-based problems and solutions, prepares required documentation and reports in an accurate and timely manner, informs supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any staff concerns. Inventory Management

Maintain an accurate and current equipment inventory and parts stock. Order replacement parts and manage commonly used spares to minimize equipment downtime. Assist in incoming inspections, asset tagging, and tracking of rental and loaner equipment. Demonstrate a safety mindset. Demonstrate financial responsibility for purchasing parts and service. Other Duties

Perform other tasks as assigned to support the organization’s mission and goals. Qualifications and Requirements

Associate’s degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military experience or two years of equivalent experience. Technical Certification (CBET) strongly preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment. Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills. Travel between sites. Work Eligibility
