Position Title
Clinical Psychologist
Location Mescalero Service Unit, Behavioral Health Department
318 Abalone Loop, Mescalero, NM 88340
Place of Performance The contractor will provide services at the Mescalero Indian Hospital within the Mescalero Service Unit (MSU) Behavioral Health Department, located at the address above.
Schedule Full‑time or as‑needed basis to cover absence of permanent staff
Clinic hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Day and evening shifts available
8‑hour workdays
Qualifications
Possess and maintain an active, unrestricted psychologist license in the state or region of practice throughout the contract term.
Maintain current credentialing and privileges at MSU.
Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and maintain it for the contract duration.
Provide three professional references from peers of the same discipline (e.g., LCSW to LCSW, Psy.D to Psy.D).
Submit current immunization records per MSU policy.
Provide necessary documentation to complete security clearance procedures, including fingerprint cards.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA.
Scope of Work The Clinical Psychologist shall provide comprehensive behavioral health counseling and treatment services on a non‑personal service basis. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Duties
Conduct psychological assessments, diagnoses, psychotherapy, and—if licensed—prescribe psychotropic medications.
Manage behavioral health needs for children, adolescents, adults, and families through individual, group, and family counseling.
Deliver crisis intervention services, including assessments, care coordination, and hospitalization referrals when necessary.
Collaboration and Consultation
Actively participate in treatment planning with the multidisciplinary team.
Provide consultations to MSU medical staff, mental health providers, and relevant tribal, state, federal, and private agencies.
Serve as a subject matter expert in distinguishing organic vs. functional psychological conditions.
Administrative Responsibilities
Document all clinical encounters and treatment plans in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely and accurate manner per MSU policy, AAAHC standards, and CMS regulations.
Attend departmental meetings and engage in quality assurance activities including peer reviews and case presentations.Ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, IHS and MSU guidelines, APA standards, and Joint Commission requirements.
Additional Requirements
Adhere to all MSU policies regarding documentation, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
Participate in required trainings if mandated by IHS.
Refer patients to higher‑level care (e.g., psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities) as needed.
Notify MSU with a minimum of three weeks' notice prior to early departure from the contract.
Salary: $100 - $110 an hour
