Summary The Dance Instructor makes a lasting impact by delivering exceptional instruction across a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. The instructor is not only an accomplished performer or educator, but also a collaborator, mentor, and creative visionary that contributes to, and elevates, a high-quality program that serves hundreds of students each season. The instructor is responsible for developing and executing structured, technique-focused classes that foster artistic expression and personal growth in dancers of all levels. The instructor choreographs original pieces for performances, participates in curriculum refinement, and helps to shape the vision and excellence of the annual dance recital and company showcases. Qualifications - Education, Experience and Training Experience in dance performance, education, and choreography, preferably in a studio, academic, or professional company setting. Proven ability to teach and tailor instruction across multiple styles and age groups. Strong management skills and the ability to build positive rapport with students and families. Creative, organized, and self-motivated, with a deep understanding of technique and skill progression. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required and if not certified, must become certified. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Design and deliver progressive, skill-based lesson plans that align with program goals and age-appropriate standards. Choreograph polished and original works for performances, ensuring artistic integrity and student development. Provide ongoing, constructive feedback to students to promote technical and artistic growth. Lead with professionalism, enthusiasm, and attention to detail in every class setting. Evaluate student progress and readiness for performance opportunities and program advancement. Collaborate with the dance team on curriculum development and recital planning. Curate music and costumes that reflect the artistry and quality of each class and performance. Maintain accurate class records, including attendance, costume orders, and student communications. Foster strong, positive communication with families and dancers, alike, to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Actively contribute to building a culture of excellence, inclusion, creativity, and growth within the dance program. Provide occasional substitute coverage for other instructors when available. Participate in instructor meetings, trainings, and program development discussions. Support the execution of the annual recital, showcase, and community engagement performances. Stay current in dance trends, safety practices, and instructional methods. Responsible for daily set up and cleanup of studio. Maintain a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Maintain a knowledge of park policies, confidentiality of student and staff records and information.
