Manager of Engineering Design
to lead and evolve its Engineering Design department. This individual will play a critical leadership role in setting strategic direction, overseeing engineering design standards, and ensuring that all systems are developed to meet performance, quality, and cost expectations. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration skills, and a vision for continuous innovation in capital equipment or industrial systems design. Note:

fully onsite
in
Elgin, IL
and requires U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available). Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Engineering Design Department, aligning with broader business objectives Oversee the design and development of mechanical and/or electrical systems, with a focus on grinding systems or related capital equipment Establish and enforce engineering best practices, design protocols, and quality standards Serve as a senior technical authority for design architecture, integrity, and problem-solving Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, promoting a culture of accountability and professional growth Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to align engineering initiatives with operational capabilities Champion the adoption of new materials, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation and design efficiency Manage CAD systems and ensure ERP/BOM workflows are properly integrated and optimized Approve critical project scopes, budgets, design concepts, and timelines, ensuring technical accuracy and delivery milestones Play a key role in the entire product lifecycle—from concept to commercialization and post-launch enhancements Monitor industry trends and apply insights to maintain competitive design strategies Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and long-term investment decisions for the engineering function Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity Demonstrated success leading design teams in a manufacturing or capital equipment environment Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical systems, applied physics, and product architecture Proficiency with CAD software and experience managing BOM and ERP-integrated workflows Skilled at cross-functional collaboration with executive and technical teams Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking abilities Bonus:
