Job Summary We seek a Claims Counsel, Cyber & Professional Liability, to join our Financial Lines Claims team. The role involves conducting investigations, analysis, evaluation, and disposition of claims and litigation. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, optimize claim results, and collaborate with internal partners to offer legal advice and participate in strategic initiatives. Responsibilities Manage a caseload of primary and excess Cyber, Technology, E&O, and Media Liability claims, analyzing notices, drafting correspondence, managing counsel, establishing reserves, negotiating, and maintaining claims files. Prepare reports on loss development, financial exposure, reserves, coverage issues, and strategies. Collaborate with underwriting on significant exposures. Work with brokers, insureds, and counsel to resolve claims. Assist with Ascot’s 24/7 Cyber Breach Hotline. Stay informed on cyber trends and provide feedback to claims and underwriting teams. Research market conditions and draft reference materials on relevant laws. Obtain and maintain adjusters’ licenses. Travel for mediations, conferences, trials, depositions, and marketing efforts. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree; J.D. preferred, or related field. 3-5 years’ legal or claims experience, preferably in Cyber and Technology E&O claims within insurance or private practice. Ability to resolve conflicts professionally. Sound decision-making and negotiation skills within authority limits. Strong time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and partners. Self-starter capable of working independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims systems. ***This position may be filled at a different level depending on experience.*** Compensation The base salary range for New York City Metro: $115,000 - $135,000, with potential variation based on experience and skills. Compensation includes bonuses and discretionary rewards.
