The Program Associate provides managerial, administrative, and programmatic support of the operations of the bell hooks center and Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Department, including support for the faculty associated with those units. Oversees the day-to-day activities of the center and department, plays a key role in communication to the campus and community, and coordinates resources for LGBTQIA+ students. Serves as a labor supervisor. This position is full-time and benefit eligible. Your Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the hospitable and inclusive center, including welcome students, staff, and faculty and community to the center; provide tours to the campus community, prospective students, donors, and community guests, ensuring the center is accessible, staffed, open and closed at advertised times; Manage all center operations and space, such as opening and closing, maintenance of a clean and organized space, procure and update displays/resources, use of facilities and technology including equipment, inventory, resources, space reservations by other departments, groups, and staff; Manage logistics for new and recurring center, department, and campus events, including booking and communication with entertainers and speakers, travel arrangements for all visiting scholars/guests, including arranging catering, use of AV equipment, organizing payments to speakers and vendors, coordination of campus partners, and development and distribution of recurring program assessment including preparing related data and reports for Directors as needed. Program development, coordination, and oversight of Pride Series, Student Activist Series, and annual program associate-facilitated events. Coordinate communication both on and off campus, including event announcements, monthly newsletter, social media presence, web site presentation, and serve as central point of contact for center and department needs. Support administration of the center and department budget-related functions of accounting including purchasing, purchase card review, ordering, check requests, tracking, compliance, and reporting for center and departmental affiliated operating budgets; manage grant funds and consult and advise the center director about budget decisions; consult with Dean's office and appropriate staff about program and grant budgets. Develop procedures for facilitating communication within and beyond the center and department; streamline administrative procedures and assist center staff members and department faculty members. Serve as support and mentor to center and departmental academic and labor students including providing center, academic, and scholar information; ensuring student concerns are relayed to director; centering student voices in program planning; fostering space for student discourse and organizing; providing recommendations upon request; and mentoring support for student engaging with the bhc programming and space. Create and coordinate a resource program to affirm, celebrate, and facilitate safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ students. Identify resources and professional development opportunities for queer students to support their curricular and co-curricular success. In support of Berea College's great commitments this position requires student supervision. B.A. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related field Experience required to ensure success in this position:

2-3 years of experience with programming management At least 2-3 years in a diverse higher education or social service setting Experience with management Computer and data-management experience Accounting and bookkeeping experience Event planning experience Customer relations experience preferred Special skills, knowledge, and abilities:
