Group Overview Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO)
is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s aviation engineering and integration capabilities, focusing on aircraft modification, system integration, and technical project management. AERO takes mission requirements and transforms them into operational assets by designing, engineering, and integrating new systems and technologies. The group manages aviation project lifecycles, from concept to testing, ensuring aircraft modifications meet performance, safety, and airworthiness standards. With a unified structure, AERO leverages its engineering expertise and project management capabilities to enhance Metrea’s aviation fleet, supporting a range of specialized operations through innovation and technical excellence. Position Summary Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Avionics Engineer will provide expedient engineering support in an aircraft modification environment to provide avionics integration designs. Support internal and external customers (e.g. production personnel, suppliers, materials, quality, design), as well as to other engineers. Act as liaison between the shop floor and design / certification engineering personnel. Coordinate with management, other engineers and shop technicians to develop design requirements and incorporate design changes. Adhere to company standards for configuration control, file management and change control. Exercise initiative, continuous improvement and attention to detail to improve design and drawing quality, completeness and accuracy. Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude in a fast paced, changing environment. Able to work independently with limited oversight but will ask questions when necessary. Self-motivated to make efficient use of time for the benefit of the company during slow or unsupervised periods. Roles and Responsibilities: Liaison engineering support (repair design, analysis, calculations, drawings, and certification). Identify gaps between requirements, design, manufacturing, and operations. Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. Works with own initiative in problem solving without appreciable direction; work is reviewed and approved by cognizant engineers, or DERs. Collaborate with various engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams to complete designs. Prepare engineering reports and presentations. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the Air and Space Group Capability Units Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment Perform other duties as necessary On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location Work is performed in an office and shop environment Skills and Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience Demonstrable experience and or understanding of King Air 300 integrations. Demonstrable experience with known ISR/EW equipment. Experience in operations research and advanced analytical methods. Skills Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Demonstrate success working in a highly collaborative multi-function environment. Must be results-oriented and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly developed sense of judgment and maturity. Strong organizational skills and discipline, with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated intellectual humility, high levels of emotional intelligence, and an innate ability to challenge own thinking and adjust to others. Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance. Must have good command of the English language, oral and written. Computer Skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite. Certificates: Valid Driver’s License.
