We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a premier federal client in Clarksburg, VA. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to contribute to national security initiatives in a dynamic and collaborative environment and contingent upon contract award.
Position Overview
The Senior ISSE will support the client, implementing security engineering across 30+ mission-critical systems and services. This includes ensuring that new and modified systems meet stringent security controls, working closely with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), System Security Analysts (SSAs), and development teams.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with ISSOs, SSAs, and system owners to understand and address mission-based information protection requirements.
Define and allocate system security requirements using best practices and NIST RMF guidelines.
Design system security architecture in coordination with enterprise architects and development teams.
Evaluate system design proposals to ensure effective allocation of security functions and compliance with client policy.
Support boundary determination for security authorization using client and NIST standards.
Develop detailed security design documentation, including life-cycle considerations and component/interface specifications.
Map system security requirements to design elements to ensure complete coverage.
Assess systems for effectiveness in meeting confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation goals.
Required Qualifications
Masters Degree in any discipline, but a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred
10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering, systems security, or related IT security disciplines
Demonstrated hands-on experience with secure system design, implementation, and assessment across enterprise-level environments
Extensive knowledge of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53 security and privacy controls
Practical experience implementing security for cloud-based environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure
Familiarity with automation, DevSecOps, and security integration in CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of enterprise network infrastructure, application security, and system architecture
Proven ability to analyze complex security requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation and briefings for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and interface with government and contractor stakeholders
Required Security Clearance
Active Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Certifications
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Cloud Security Certifications, such as:
AWS Certified Security Specialty
Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate
Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
