Summary of Job Duties The UA Little Rock School of Physical Sciences - Chemistry Program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor - Biochemistry. Our Program is dedicated to high-quality education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a strong research program in Biochemistry, with at least half of the research being bench / wet biochemistry. Currently, the program has GC/MS, LC/MS, NMR, ESR, and other standard spectroscopic instrumentation available, along with gel electrophoresis and separations equipment. UA Little Rock also has high-level computational and visualization capabilities for candidates wishing to pursue theoretical and experimental research. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications Required Education and/or Experience:

Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a closely related field. All Ph.D. requirements must be completed before employment commences.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Candidates with postdoctoral research experience will be given preference. Experience in teaching biochemistry classes and labs at the undergraduate and graduate level is preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in biochemistry, including lectures and laboratories.

May also teach freshman-level courses in chemistry, including general and fundamental chemistry as needed.

Develop research activities at the undergraduate and graduate level (Master's and Ph.D. in Applied Science, Chemistry) that will be maintained through funding obtained from granting agencies.

Service activities are also expected that include serving on program, school, college, and university-wide committees, assisting in recruiting, and advising majors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Committed to students' success as indicated by prior teaching experience and/or mentoring and supervisory experience of employees.

Expertise in face-to-face and virtual teaching methodologies, including active learning practices.

Expertise in Chemistry topics.

Knowledge and use of best teaching and safety practices.

Knowledge of simple laboratory equipment and laboratory practices.

Knowledge of standard spectroscopic instrumentation.

Salary Information $65,000
