Position Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer
Location Galveston, TX
Pay $80,000.00/yr – $125,000.00/yr
Experience
5 to 7 years of advanced CNC programming and machinist experience.
Must have previous experience in a machine shop or shipyard with operating CNC machinery.
Proven experience programming multi-axis CNC machines and proficiency with CAM software (Mastercam strongly preferred).
Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience).
Type Full-time; Direct Hire
Schedule Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Job Description
Program and operate multi-axis CNC machines (5-axis) for complex parts and tooling.
Utilize CAM software, primarily Mastercam, to refine toolpaths and optimize machining efficiency.
Translate blueprints, CAD files, or reverse‑engineered parts into accurate CNC programs.
Perform gear machining programming for spur, helical, worm, bevel, and spline gears.
Apply solid understanding of tooling selection, toolpath management, feeds, and speeds.
Reverse engineer parts from scans, prints, or samples into machine‑ready code.
Program and operate horizontal boring mills, CNC lathes, and milling machines.
Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming or setup issues.
Ensure precision and accuracy in all machined components.
Collaborate with the production team to meet quality and timeline goals.
Position Requirements
Multi‑axis CAM programming (5‑axis).
Proficiency in Mastercam or equivalent CAM software.
Gear machining programming expertise.
CAD literacy and blueprint interpretation.
Toolpath optimization and cutting tool selection.
Knowledge of G‑code and CNC setup/troubleshooting.
Reverse engineering skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Problem‑solving and adaptability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
