Position Overview The Deputy Project Manager / Project Engineer will oversee civil design projects from concept through construction. This position is ideal for an experienced Associate Engineer or mid-level Project Engineer ready to take the next step. This individual will focus on design leadership, working closely with Senior and Principal Engineers to deliver high-quality infrastructure and site development projects throughout California.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design efforts for public works and land development projects including grading, drainage, roadway, water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
Oversee the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E).
Conduct design reviews for accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and public agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
Assist in managing project scope, schedule, and budget while tracking deliverables and QA/QC reviews.
Prepare technical reports, design narratives, and cost estimates.
Mentor and provide design guidance to junior engineers and CAD staff.
Support proposal preparation and participate in client presentations.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited university.
California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required.
5–10 years of civil design experience with a mix of public works and/or land development projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative team setting.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
$105,000 – $140,000 (DOE)
