Senior Network Engineer
Location:
Ft. Meade, MD (Hybrid – one onsite day per week)

Direct hire/Permanent
Pay Rate:
$130,000‑$145,000 per year + 10% bonus annually
Base Pay Range:
$110,000.00‑$140,000.00 per year
Main Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Juniper network devices, including MX, QFX, and the latest SRX Series security platforms.
Configure and support security services on SRX devices, such as zone‑based policies, firewall filters, IPsec/SSL VPNs, tunneled connections, and MACsec encryption.
Implement and troubleshoot advanced routing protocols: BGP (with communities, route filtering, AS‑path, MED), OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS/LDP.
Support high‑speed fiber optic interfaces (10G, 40G, 100G) with LACP, optical diagnostics, and transceiver troubleshooting.
Manage network performance, availability, and security via CoS/QoS, policy‑based routing, and traffic shaping.
Design and support VPN tunnels and secure transport links between data centers, cloud services, and remote sites.
Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, IP address management, and topology diagrams.
Collaborate directly with customers to advise on requests and implement configuration changes.
Qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to sit for a polygraph.
7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer with Juniper platforms (MX, QFX, SRX).
Strong expertise in routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS, and complex policy configurations.
Experience with security and tunneling technologies: MACsec, IPsec, GRE, firewall zoning, and policies.
Proficient with fiber interfaces (10G/40G/100G) including transceiver troubleshooting and optical power level checks.
Advanced knowledge of JUNOS CLI and automation tools (Ansible, Junos PyEZ, or equivalent scripting).
Experience with network monitoring and management tools: SNMP, syslog, NetFlow, centralized logging.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and support after‑hours outages.
