Seeking a motivated and reliable Energy Engineer, well‑versed in conducting comprehensive ASHRAE energy audits, and creating high‑efficiency solutions in lighting, water, building controls, and HVAC systems for retro‑commissioned and new construction buildings in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.

Experience in providing end‑to‑end support throughout both the technical and sales processes in customer relations and the complete life cycle of projects.

Job Title Energy Engineer (Contract)

Location Hybrid to Newark, NJ – office in Newark Tuesdays and Wednesdays; occasional field inspections as required.

Contract Details Duration: 4–6 months with potential extension. 40 hours/week. 2 days in office. Hourly Rate: $100.00 per hour.

Preferred Experience

Conducting level I, II, III energy audits per ASHRAE standards and whole‑building energy modeling.

Feasibility analysis of renewable energy generation projects for real‑estate applications.

Writing, reviewing, and editing technical reports.

Performing field inspections and functional performance tests.

Managing a portfolio of projects on time, on budget, with technical proficiency.

Ensuring project technical quality, accuracy, and managerial aspects.

Planning project activities, updating forecasts, and maintaining accurate milestone records.

Communicating project budgets, tracking hours, providing task training, oversight, and QC.

Assisting with invoicing, forecasting, and other project management tasks.

Attending internal and external meetings in the field.

Reviewing contractor submittals and identifying staffing needs.

Reporting project % complete and maintaining target utilization rate.

Working effectively with internal teams and external clients.

Daily Duties

Provide program management oversight over scope, schedule, and budget of energy‑efficiency projects.

Ensure projects meet program requirements, including scope and cost effectiveness.

Develop and maintain processes for implementing energy‑efficiency projects and programs.

Interface with client associates, vendors, customers, and outside consultants to ensure program rules and requirements are maintained.

Perform and oversee program and project QA/QC as required; apply knowledge of energy‑savings measures and techniques.

Manage customer relationships to deliver high customer satisfaction.

Coordinate and direct vendor and contractor activities; review deliverables and monitor performance.

Ensure vendor and employee compliance with safety protocols and practices.

Compile and analyze data from projects to monitor status and report to management.

Analyze performance results for management reports; provide monthly project status forecasts.

Assist with special projects and ad‑hoc requests as necessary.

Perform additional functions as required during storm restoration efforts or other non‑routine duties.

Additional Responsibilities

Develop and manage processes for implementing energy‑efficiency projects in accordance with BPU-approved programs.

Perform program and project QA/QC; apply energy‑savings knowledge.

Conduct project site visits as required; compile and analyze data to report status.

Manage customer relationships with high satisfaction, ensuring safety compliance.

Required Qualifications

B.S. Degree plus 5 years of experience in energy‑efficiency programs, construction, or related fields. Alternatively, 9 years of experience.

Experience processing milestone‑based construction payments and forecasting financial spend.

Knowledge of energy‑efficiency measures, implementation, and cost.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Commitment to process improvement and attention to detail.

Knowledge of Client’s CEF energy‑efficiency order and related frameworks such as the NJ Cost Test.

Ability to travel within territory for meetings, inspections, and contractor relationship management.

Valid U.S. driver’s license (Desired).

Certified Energy Manager preferred.
