Position Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead avionics engineer specializing in flight deck avionics areas such as autoflight, communications, indication, recording, and navigation (covering such as FMS, ELT, TACAN, ADIRS, WXR, RNSS, EGPWS, EDFCS, CDS, and FDR/CVR) providing expert technical guidance and leadership on complex avionics projects.
Mentor early career engineers to enhance their professional growth and deepen their avionics‑specific technical expertise, including hands‑on experience with avionics communication, navigation, indication, and recording systems.
Collaborate closely with programs and customers to develop and document detailed flight deck avionics system and subsystem requirements, including compliance with DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARINC 429/664, MIL‑STD‑1553, and RTCA/DO‑160 standards.
Analyze and translate requirements into system, subsystem, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications focused on avionics architectures and standards compliance.
Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure system and subsystem designs meet all operational and functional requirements specific to avionics performance, safety, and certification standards.
Oversee supplier performance to ensure seamless system and subsystem integration and compliance with avionics specifications and industry standards.
Troubleshoot and provide technical support for fielded avionics hardware and software throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to company avionics systems and business needs, including next‑generation communication and navigation technologies.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for an AEW&C platform, representing the organization in high‑level technical discussions and decision‑making related to avionics systems and certification.
Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required and an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
8 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience in avionics system design, integration, testing, and certification.
Up to 25% travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience in flight deck avionics integration, testing, and certification, including hands‑on work with flight deck avionics systems.
Master’s degree or higher (e.g., PhD) in Electrical Engineering or related field with specialization in avionics or aerospace systems.
In‑depth knowledge of FAA regulations and certification requirements for avionics systems, including DO‑178C, DO‑254, ARINC 429/664, MIL‑STD‑1553, and RTCA/DO‑160.
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and certification standards critical to avionics system development, integration, safety assurance, and lifecycle management.
