Assistant Director of Nursing Cedarhurst Senior Living

– Cedarhurst of Springfield, IL

Base pay range:

$70,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Nursing with defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice within the community and assume their responsibilities in absences.

Oversee provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to resident care plans and physician orders.

Develop and maintain in‑service education programs for nursing staff.

Conduct and participate in daily rounds to monitor delivery of nursing care.

Participate as a member of the community’s management team in planning, policy formation, and administrative decision‑making, emphasizing care‑giver and nursing services.

Assess residents and potential residents for appropriate levels of care.

Manage and coordinate the work of all nursing and care staff, communicating pertinent resident health and safety information.

Supervise and monitor medications for residents who self‑administer, when applicable.

Assess and complete overall nursing day‑to‑day duties on scheduled floor‑nurse shifts.

Assist with oversight of pharmacy and community relationships, ensuring timely medication delivery, accurate eMAR, and real‑time resolution of concerns.

Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of the entire clinical department, including resident assistants, certified nursing assistants, and medication technicians.

Provide interim documentation as required to resident files and attend all scheduled interdisciplinary resident‑care meetings.

Understand all responsibilities associated with clinical roles and demonstrate effective execution.

Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high‑performing resident‑care team.

Engage in efforts to increase occupancy rates while prioritizing resident wellbeing and supporting aging comfortably in the community.

Promote the physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident, striving to return them to maximum independence, when possible.

Understand residents’ Advance Directives and follow their wishes.

Physical demands: occasionally stand/move, communicate, identify written information; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 50 pounds independently; lift up to 200 pounds with assistance.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing school and current state license for LPN or RN; 3+ years nursing experience preferred.

Working knowledge of best person‑directed care practices for seniors, including dementia care (preferred).

Current CPR certification at all times.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining a resident‑care team.

Ability to oversee delivery of quality care in compliance with care‑plan and resident‑assessment regulations.

Knowledge of state regulations regarding senior‑living care and understanding of other levels of care within senior living.

Professional conduct with effective conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others.

Ability to work well with others, take direction from management, and take initiative to ensure resident needs are met comfortably.

Self‑motivated with strong accountability for results.

Proficiency in computer applications: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Electronic Health Record systems (EHR) such as ECP.
